Natural Light Headshot

Chris is an aspiring model and is also the older brother of one of my good friends Alex.

Last month Alex contacted me asking if I could take some portraits of Chris, so I packed up my gear and headed to beautiful downtown Chicago. When shooting on location I used to overpack and take too much gear, I now pack much lighter and it has saved me the trouble of lugging around too much equipment. Initially I thought I would be shooting with with my speedlights but once I arrived at the apartment I saw they had beautiful sunlight coming from the floor to ceiling windows. So instead I changed gears and decided to work with the natural window light available to me. I love being able to use natural winnow light in my photography it is often much easier to work with and also creates beautiful light. I have used strobes and speed lights a lot in my photography but I am slowly leaning towards using natural light more and more in my work because I just love the light it creates and also the fact that you don't need to be fumbling around with light settings during a shoot.
